Jewelry Toolbox #1 - Stud Earrings

I often have ladies asking me what they should buy, especially when they're starting a new jewelry collection. So I've started a new series called Jewelry Toolbox. In these posts I'll tell you some great additions to your toolbox and what Chloe + Isabel offers to get that toolbox from nonexistent to amazing.

Every good jewelry collection should include at least two pairs (if not more!) of stud earrings. These are small and generally go well with those "I need to look professional and put together" times.
Why do I suggest at least two? Gold and silver of course! I don't know how many times I've thought, "This outfit calls for studs...but I'm wearing a gold necklace and I have no gold studs." Dang.

Studs can be simple or ornate. My Gram used to have some small ball studs that went with everything. Simple. Then there are animal studs, flowers, even mustaches (don't giggle, I have some and my students get a kick out of them!). Those are more ornate. New Chloe + Isabel Jewelry Tuesday!

When Chloe + Isabel releases new jewelry, it's typically on a Tuesday at 10 p.m. Eastern, 9 p.m. Central.

That's right after our National Call where all the merchandisers get to hear about what's going on with the company for the week.

This week's National Call is going to be AWE-SOME. Why? Because afterwards there's a capsule release. What does that mean? A jewelry capsule is a small new release. This capsule is 4 pieces and they will be Limited Edition. That means that they won't be in any look book you see from me. They will only be available until they sell out, and when they do...they're gone. It's projected that this capsule will sell out before the new Fall Line is release August 19. So there's some urgency for you.

Chloe + Isabel The Friendship Philosophy - Are you a Chloe or an Isabel?

I went shopping with a friend a few days ago at H&M. I had never shopped with this friend, so I was interested to see what she picked out. She went for bold prints on the dresses she chose, but went for understated skirts and jackets that could be paired together or work separately.

Think about your best girl friend. Is she exactly like you? Or is she different in her style, her likes, and her jewelry? Chloe + Isabel, as a brand, is styled after two styles, two friends if you will, who are the best of friends, but choose different styles.

We see these "friends" in our customers, in ourselves, and we see them in the jewelry they choose. Why Chloe + Isabel?

            Thanks for checking out my blog! My name is Liz Wright, and I am a merchandiser for Chloe + Isabel Jewelry out of San Antonio, Texas. I started with Chloe + Isabel in May 2014 and have loved every day since then of working with this company. A lot of people asked me why I started selling jewelry “on the side,” so I wanted to explain.

             In my 9-5 I am a college professor, a Mom, a wife, and all sorts of other things. I have always loved makeup and fashion but you would never be able to tell that – I was always very simple in how I dressed, how I did my makeup, how I did my hair, and in what jewelry I wore. After I finished my PhD in November 2013, I got kind of…well…bored. I got into nail polish and nail art for a while and bought a lot of Julep nail products. Julep at one point paired with Chloe +Isabel to showcase how the jewelry fit with the nail colors, and I was intrigued. I really wanted to try their stuff. So I went on Facebook and asked who sold C+I because I wanted to support a merchandiser.

            *Crickets*

            Hm. That got me thinking. If I don’t know anyone, I wonder what it takes to become a merchandiser? I could do that. I think I would enjoy it. And it would give me an opportunity to expand my jewelry collection (and even my fashion closet). So I applied to be a merchandiser. I interviewed with a recruiter and was told that she loved my enthusiasm, and I signed up the next day (yes, I know recruiters say that all the time).

            You may be thinking, “This is direct sales. You pay for something then you sell it, it’s a scam,” and I will tell you 2,000,000 percent that I was checking into this from day 1 to make sure. And I was impressed by everything I read. Merchandisers said they were happy, loved their jobs, and loved the jewelry. They loved their team mates. Team mates?

            Once I signed up I was placed on the Southwest team (#teamsouthwest represent!) with two amazing leaders, Liz and Kaitlyn. Leslie is my merchandise manager for the San Antonio area and they are ALL here to help me be awesome. I remember reading about women loving their teammates, and it is true. We are a team. There is no competition (aside from some truly friendly competition). We all have our own customers. We compete against…ourselves. We set goals, and we work on them. You work as much as you want. Everyone is here to support each other.

            Let me repeat that, because it’s amazing: women supporting each other in the business world. It’s a beautiful thing.

I will tell you right now I started as a merchandiser thinking these Torsades (we have a few types) were too much. But they grew on me. And so I had to borrow Leslie’s to see just what I was missing. Drool…

            You may wonder, “OK so how’s your jewelry collection now Liz?” Well, you’ve seen the name of my blog. It’s The Jewelry Bug. I have the jewelry bug. And it’s a bad one. It gets in your blood and makes you wonder when you can place your next order and what it should be. And just like any virus, it’s communicable – I can give it to you. So you better watch out.
